She attended Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon where she majored in Exercise Science and minored in Spanish. She studied abroad for one semester in Costa Rica and completed a full Spanish emersion program. She was active in her Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority serving as the President during time at Linfield.
She graduated in 2009 and moved to Portland to begin work pursuing her interests in the medical field. She worked as a medical assistant at a plastic surgery clinic acquiring front office, back office, and surgical assistant skills. She continued her philanthropic efforts and volunteered at the Wallace Medical Concern monthly in downtown Portland where she met Dr. Kim Gauntt and discovered the podiatric profession. She spent time shadowing Dr. Gauntt and determined that podiatry was a perfect specialty to combine her interests in sports medicine, surgery, and caring for geriatric patients.
She earned her degree in podiatric medicine at California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California in 2016. During her final year of clinical rotations, she spent 6 months traveling all across the United States at different externships and 6 months in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the VA Healthcare System.
From there, she matched at the Legacy Health Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program in Portland, Oregon. Her 3-year surgical training included clinical management of common podiatric conditions as well as comprehensive biomechanical and surgical training of extensive forefoot, rearfoot and ankle pathology.
Dr. Gauntt has remained a steadfast mentor for her and she is excited about joining the practice! With Dr. Lockhart joining us we will be expanding our practice to Beaverton in addition to our offices in Newberg and Hillsboro.
